Infection prevention is more important now than ever! This course will provide you with valuable information to fine-tune your facility's infection prevention program. This course covers the requirements and duties of the infection preventionist, antibiotic stewardship program, surveillance of infections, Infection Control Assessment and Response (ICAR), and recent Kansas survey results. 


Learning Objectives:


Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to:

Name 3 functions of the infection preventionist in LTC facilities

Name 5 members of the infection prevention team

Identify 4 ways that the Administrative team participates in Infection Prevention


   


Continuing EducationThis course has been approved for 2.0 continuing education hours in the core area of Resident Care for Licensed Adult Care Home Administrators and Registered Operators by the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services.  Health Occupations and Credentialing approved provider number (KDADS LTS# A1427).




Speaker Bio: Brenda Davis is a Quality Improvement Consultant with the Kansas Foundation for Medical Care. Brenda provides consultation, training and technical assistance to 53 long-term care facilities in improving infection control practices and systematically collecting and reporting infection surveillance data through the National Health Safety Network (NHSN) data capture system. Provide consultation, training and technical assistance to 10 Home Health agencies in improving infection control practices to reduce avoidable re-admissions that result from ongoing infections. Provide consultation, training and technical assistance to 7 EMS units in developing training for EMS squads and community to develop awareness of Sepsis.
