12:00-1:00 pm - Registration
1:00 - 4:15 pm - Person Centered Care Isn't Just for Residents, Presented by Laci Cornelison, Interim Director for the Center on Aging, 3.5 CE Hours
In the single toughest workforce climate of all times, your employees at all levels are in demand, leaving no reason for them to stay with you if they are unhappy, unvalued or think their potential is being wasted. Growing, valuing, and building relationships with employees is essential to the survival of your organization AND to providing person-centered care to the residents you serve.
Bosses and leaders often feel alone in this pressure. Never fear—your humanity is the key to your effectiveness, not a liability.
Flip your organizational hierarchy and invest in employees who work closest to residents. This type of empowerment is essential to employee satisfaction and retention AND in making person-centered care possible. In this session, you will leave with practical information to build self-directed work teams, including the following specific topics:
Employee development programs in line with the PEAK criteria
Coaching, mentoring, and accountability tools
Conflict resolution resources for teams
Learning Objectives:
Recognize the role that empowering and investing in employees plays in person-centered outcomes for residents.
Identify two best practices in coaching and mentoring.
Describe and demonstrate conflict resolution skills.
